UK government ignores the call by thousands for an inquiry

After over 10,000 people in over a week signed a petition calling for a debate on Israeli embassy staff bragging to bring down a British Minister, the government has chosen to cover it up. An official statement from the government will be disappointing for the thousands that called for inquiry into Israeli influence in British politics. The dismal response from the government stated;

 “The Israeli Ambassador apologised and is clear the comments do not reflect the view of the Embassy or Government of Israel. The UK has a strong relationship with Israel. We consider the matter closed.”[1]

Despite substantial evidence presented in video footage aired by Al-Jazeera, the government has chosen to be satisfied with an apology. This flippant approach is undermining the democratically elected British MPs from foreign interference. At a time when trust in politicians is low, the government is indicating foreign interference is not much of a problem. This statement also shows the proverbial two fingers to British citizens concerned with the welfare, security and integrity of Parliamentary democracy.

The statement continues;

“The UK is a close friend of Israel and we enjoy an excellent bilateral relationship, built on decades of cooperation between our two countries across a range of fields such as education, hi-tech research, business, arts and culture.”

This begs the question whether all citizens of other nations that Britain does bilateral trade with and are on friendly terms with, have the right to attempt and brag of bringing down British members of Parliament?
