21-year-old Palestinian killed

June 3, 2016 /

There has been a rapid increase of stories in the media covering alleged Palestinian knife stabbings across the occupied West Bank. It must be stressed that these alleged crimes have rarely been true. There has been little to no evidence proving allegations by Israeli soldiers.

Recent video footage released on Wednesday by Israel’s Channel Two is a testimony to the dubious claims by Israeli soldiers. The footage shows a knife being kicked towards 21-year-old Abed al-Fatah al-Sharif while he bleeds to death on the ground. Voices in Hebrew are heard calling for the knife to be kicked closer to the body.

Yesterday afternoon Israeli soldiers killed 25-year-old Ansar Hussam Harasha in another alleged stabbing attack at a checkpoint in the northern occupied West Bank. No evidence has been provided to prove Ansar was carrying a knife.

These cases raise serious questions about the dozens of other Palestinians who have been killed in similar cases. While the UN investigations have shown a number of cases highlighting Israel’s policy of extrajudicial executions against Palestinians who presented no imminent threat or danger, Palestinians have received no recourse to justice.
