Israeli police killed 27-year-old Mustafa and injured his brother in law, 25-year-old Ali Tayser Nimir during a raid on Shufat refugee camp. Ali’s condition has been reported as moderate but he is currently in Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
On Tuesday Mustafa Nimir’s family was informed by Israeli intelligence that their son was killed by “mistake”. Despite Israeli authorities on Monday accusing the young men of attempting to run over Israeli police.
Neither of the young Palestinians carried out any attack on Israeli police . Family members and eyewitnesses rejected this claim. According to the family, they were returning home after picking up food for their family.
There is no justification for Israel’s killings and its mass extrajudicial policy against Palestinians. Nimir is the fourth resident of the Shufat refugee camp to have been killed by Israeli occupational forces since October. Despite the number of these cases increasing, time and time again, there has been no recourse to justice for the family of the victims.
