Israel: Not A State For All Its Citizens

March 14, 2019 /

On 10 March, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed what Palestinians have long claimed: Israel is a racist state.

Netanyahu stated “Israel is not a state of all its citizens. According to the basic nationality law we passed, Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people – and only it.”

The nationality law Netanyahu was speaking about has been widely denounced as racist and as an ‘Apartheid Law’.

Netanyahu in claiming exclusivity for Jewish people has at a stroke wiped out not only Palestinian rights but their heritage and history. This destruction of Palestinian society and heritage goes back to 1948 when Israel refused to comply with UN Resolution 194. Resolution 194 calls for the right of Palestinians to be able to return to their homes.

Netanyahu in claiming Israel is a Jewish state is pandering to racism and sowing the seeds of division between the different ethnic groups in historic Palestine. A land that has long been home to Muslims, Christians, Jews and Druze. This multicultural land is now being undermined by Israel’s racist laws. It is time for the international community to wake up and take action against Israel’s racist policies and its leadership.
