FOA strongly opposes the Public Service Pensions and Judicial Offices Bill, to be discussed in the House of Lords on Wednesday 9th March.
It threatens the right of public sector pension schemes to boycott and divest from companies complicit in war crimes and the breaking of international law.
It undermines Britain’s commitment to upholding international law. The British Government has deemed Israeli settlements illegal and it would now be contradictory to restrict the democratic right of individuals and communities to boycott and divest from complicit companies.
This week, Russia faces boycotts and divestment for its breaking of international law and likely war crimes in Ukraine. The same tools must be available for defending Palestinian rights.
