Story

What will your MP do to #AbolishApartheid?

On 1st February 2022, Amnesty International published a landmark report accusing Israel of committing the crime of apartheid against Palestinians.

Amnesty’s Secretary General Dr Callamard explained that Palestinians are treated as ‘an inferior racial group’ and ‘Israel’s cruel policies of segregation, dispossession and exclusion…  amount to apartheid’.

Amnesty’s report marks a consensus among international human rights organisations that Israel is practising apartheid.

For decades, Palestinians have stated that Israel is imposing apartheid from the River Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea. In 2021, Human Rights Watch and leading Israeli NGO B’Tselem confirmed this in their reports that exposed Israel’s apartheid system.

Amnesty’s report is 280 pages long and it is based on 4 years of extensive research.

We need to know where our MPs stand on apartheid. As the late Desmond Tutu said, to be neutral in situations of injustice is to choose the side of the oppressor.

Write to your MP using the action tool above to ask two simple questions:

Apartheid, persecution and occupation have characterised the state of Israel since its creation in 1948. With the backing of leading international human rights organisations, we must maintain pressure on our MPs to #AbolishApartheid.
