Here are frequently asked questions on FOA National Lobby for Palestine

Story so far.

Email your MP to meet FOA in Parliament on Wednesday 6th November to collect our Briefing Pack on Palestine for our National Lobby for Palestine. You don't have to attend, but you do need to email your MP to meet us in Parliament so they can be educated on Palestine and learn what actions to take for justice.

With a new government in power, we want to make it clear that Palestine was not just our priority at the ballot box but is and will remain so. Months after the July General Election, Keir Starmer’s government continues to provide Israel with the diplomatic and military support it needs to continue its genocide in Gaza and expands its violence and colonisation of the West Bank.

With over 42,000 now confirmed dead, it is vital that we do everything in our means to pressure our elected officials to end UK complicity in Israel’s crimes.

It is with this in mind that Friends of Al-Aqsa has organised a National Lobby for Palestine. We need you to email your MP and urge them to come and speak to a FOA representative on Wednesday 6th November and put pressure on Keir Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy to take meaningful action to stop the genocide and to stop arming Israel.

The genocide in Gaza has entered its second year and, since October 2023, Israel has killed over 42,000 Palestinians; with around a third of them being children – 2.6% of all children in Gaza are now dead. Additionally, nearly all of the population has been forcibly displaced and Israel has continued to indiscriminately target civilian infrastructure, from homes to schools and hospitals.

A year of inaction has only emboldened Israel, which has escalated its violence in the north against Lebanon, killing over 2,000 and displacing 1.2 million people. It has also accelerated its plans to ethnically cleanse northern Gaza, imposing a brutal siege on the region that has affected 400,000 Palestinians.

The UK government is complicit in Israel’s crimes. It has continued to allow military equipment to be exported to the genocidal Israeli regime, which are used to kill and maim Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as to maintain Israel’s illegal occupation over the entirety of Palestine.

According to the International Court of Justice, there is a plausible case that Israel is committing genocide and they have ruled that its occupation of Palestine is illegal. It obligated states to not support Israel in these endeavours and, by failing to suspend all arms export licences, our new government is sending a clear message: it prioritises its relationship with Israel over international law.

It is important that we make our MPs aware of these facts and convince them to take a public stance and robust actions to force the government to stop arming Israel, to put pressure on it to end the genocide in Gaza, stop expanding its war across the peoples of the region and support the Palestinians’ right to self-determination.
