Masjid Al-Aqsa has been closed by Israel since 28 February 2026, the longest consecutive period since its occupation in 1967.
This closure does not come in isolation, it comes amidst and ongoing genocide in Gaza, unprecedented land annexation in the West Bank and efforts by Temple Mount movements to destroy the structures standing on Masjid Al-Aqsa.
