Friends of Al-Aqsa is a UK based non-profit making NGO concerned with defending the human rights of Palestinians and protecting the sacred al-Aqsa Sanctuary in Jerusalem. This vision is supported by various international groups and organisations. Friends of Al-Aqsa was first established in 1997 and has an international support base.

The following aims and objectives are being pursued using all the available peaceful, legal and democratic means:

• Highlighting Human Rights abuses suffered by the Palestinians
• Putting pressure on the British government to make Israel respect International Law and human rights
• Bringing the Palestinian issue to the attention of those concerned with International Law, human rights and UN Resolutions
• Mobilising international condemnation for Israel’s apartheid policies to be manifested through the boycott of Israel
• Educating people on the issue of Palestine through conferences, lectures and publications
• Emphasising the significance and the centrality of the al-Aqsa Mosque to the Islamic faith and the Muslim identity and re-affirming the Muslim historic and religious rights to the area
• Working in conjunction with international heritage, cultural and humanitarian organisations in joint ventures to advance these aims

The Israeli occupation brings severe hardship for the Palestinians and dangers to Masjid Al-Aqsa. We’ve been campaigning for Palestine since 1997. We need your support to keep us strong!

We need your support more than ever to help protect against the dangers to Masjid Al-Aqsa and the occupation of Palestine.

With your donations we will continue to keep Palestine in the hearts of minds of everyone and create opportunities for people to get active until there is justice for the Palestinian people.

Palestinians have been reduced to poverty because of the Israeli occupation. Israel’s occupation has resulted in home demolitions, torture of detainees, restrictions to earn a living and dangers to Masjid Al-Aqsa.

We want to see a Palestine that does not need humanitarian aid and charitable donations, but is independent, free and lives with dignity!

For this to happen we need to dedicate our support for an end​ to the actual occupation.

Who Are FOA?

Thanks to your help, for the last 23 years FOA has been at the forefront of the pro-Palestinian movement in the UK. We are an NGO demanding a political change for Palestine and we won’t stop till this happens!

What do we do to help end occupation?

We raise awareness of Masjid Al-Aqsa and the Palestinians through media, lobbying, campaigning and general public awareness programmes. It is so important for us to make people aware of their impact through action in making a change. Over the last 23 years we have successfully run effective campaigns (includes distribution of free literature and ambitious street actions), which has changed the discourse on Palestine in the UK.

One of the ways we raise important awareness is through our mostly free events. We have organised hundreds of events explaining and promoting the rights of the Palestinians. This has included the extremely successful Palestine Expo, which attracted over 25,000 people in both 2017 and 2019 as well as having over 350,000 people tune to the online version in 2020. On the back of the increasing dangers Masjid Al-Aqsa faces and a real need to educate people about the importance of the Masjid, we launched Aqsa Week in 2016 under the banner of #LoveAqsa. In 2021, Aqsa Week went global with dozens of countries participating.

How will your donations help?

Strengthen campaigns, such as #StopArmingIsrael, #CheckTheLabel and #LoveAqsa, these are vital in raising awareness, building support and to place actions to implement change.

Work effectively with MPs, councillors and policy makers to better inform them on Palestine.

Organise events for people to come together, share ideas, learn and get active.

Print researched literature to distribute in places of worship, universities, shops and events.

Create engaging digital Content to share across social media to educate and empower.

Provide support for students to become active on campus by giving them advice and resources such as freshers pack, educational material and speaker contacts.
