Know Their Names - 4 October

‘Know Their Names’ Comes to the UK on 4 October as Part of Nationwide Remembrance

Friends of Al-Aqsa (FOA), together with partners, will host a nationwide memorial on Saturday, 4 October 2025, to remember the tens of thousands of children who have lost their lives in Gaza amid Israel’s ongoing genocide. The coordinated event, titled Know Their Names, will take place simultaneously in 24 cities across the UK, creating a unified moment of remembrance and solidarity.

Members of the public are invited to reserve slots to publicly read the names of Palestinian children who have been killed. Each reading will stand as a solemn act of remembrance, a rejection of silence, and a call for urgent action.

“These readings will serve not only as moments of reflection, but also as a powerful collective voice affirming that these children will not be forgotten,” said Ismail Patel, Chair of Friends of Al Aqsa.

Since the onset of the Israeli attacks, over 19,000 children have been killed in Gaza, with thousands more wounded, orphaned, or displaced. Behind every number lies a child with a name, a family, and a stolen future. The Know Their Names memorial seeks to humanise this unimaginable loss, reminding the world that these children are more than statistics — they are lives that mattered.

FOA calls on communities across the UK to join in this collective act of remembrance by:

·        Participating in readings of the names of the children.

·        Attending the Know Their Names events and stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza.

·        Sharing the message widely to raise awareness of the ongoing atrocities.

Participating Cities:

Birmingham - Blackburn - Bolton - Bradford - Derby - Dewsbury/Batley – Doncaster – Dudley - Hebden Bridge – Huddersfield – Hull – Leeds – Leicester – Liverpool – London – Manchester – Newcastle – Nottingham – Plymouth – Scunthorpe – Southampton - Swansea - Walsall - Warrington

In addition, FOA urges members of the public to mobilise for the national demonstration in London on 11 October 2025, which will mark two years since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza. FOA also encourages everyone to write to their MPs demanding the UK government impose sanctions on Israel and take immediate steps to end its complicity in the ongoing violence.
