SIGN PETITION: Investigate and Strike off Dr Eastland Staveley

Petition will be submitted to: The General Medical Council (GMC), DHU Healthcare and Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health

The Allegation

Dr Eastland Staveley, a GP employed by DHU Healthcare, is reported to have responded to the question posed in reference to Palestinian children in Gaza, "how many babies have you sniped?" with the reply "not enough."

This is not a political opinion. It is a public expression of endorsement for the killing of infants on ethnic grounds, and it is fundamentally incompatible with the practice of medicine. In fact, a private practice Dr Staveley was working at suspended him January 2026.

We call for his immediate suspension from clinical practice and if allegations are substantiated, striking off from the GMC medical register.

I. The GMC Case

Good Medical Practice carries statutory weight under the Medical Act 1983, and departure from its standards can form the basis of a fitness to practise investigation. Dr Staveley's conduct breaches it on multiple grounds.

The guidance requires that doctors "uphold high personal and professional standards of conduct," act with integrity, and ensure all patients receive good care, explicitly affirming that "everyone has the right to work and train in an environment which is fair, free from discrimination." Separately, the 2024 edition makes clear that posts which "undermine public confidence in the profession or disrespect patients can engage fitness to practise concerns."

The GMC states plainly that "a doctor whose conduct has shown that they cannot justify the trust placed in them should not" continue to practise.

A doctor who has publicly endorsed the killing of babies, of any background, cannot justify that trust. The GMC has full powers to suspend a doctor or remove them from the medical register entirely, what is commonly known as being "struck off."

We call on the GMC to open an immediate fitness to practise investigation and refer this case to the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service.

II. The DHU Healthcare Case

DHU Healthcare declares its core values as Compassionate, Accomplished, Respectful and Encouraging (CARE), describing itself as "a socially conscious organisation" providing "compassionate, safe, high-quality care" to the communities it serves.

Dr Staveley's statement directly contradicts every one of these values.

DHU serves a population of nearly ten million people across England, including communities of Arab, Muslim, and Middle Eastern heritage. A doctor who has expressed indifference to the killing of children from those communities cannot be trusted to treat them equitably.

As an NHS-contracted provider, DHU is also bound by the NHS Constitution's guarantee that every patient is treated with dignity and freedom from discrimination, regardless of race or religion.

We call on DHU Healthcare to immediately suspend Dr Staveley and initiate disciplinary proceedings.

III. The Case for Ministerial Action

The Secretary of State holds both the political responsibility and the moral authority to act where public trust in the NHS is at risk. Under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, the Secretary of State has powers to direct NHS England and NHS-contracted bodies to protect patient safety and public confidence. Allowing a practitioner who has glorified the killing of babies to continue in NHS-funded practice sends an unacceptable signal about whose lives this health service values.

We call on Wes Streeting MP to direct that Dr Staveley be barred from all NHS-funded practice pending the outcome of a full GMC investigation, and to make a public statement affirming zero tolerance for racism and the glorification of violence against babies.
